The difference between ramen and pho?

Both are Asian noodle soups, which are served in a broth with vegetables and usually a side of meat. Ramen soup uses wheat flour noodles and Pho soup uses rice noodles. The broth varies greatly in the composition of ramen soups. The broth of the Pho soup is traditionally a beef broth.

Origin

Another difference between the two soups is the place of origin. Whereas Pho soups are a Vietnamese dish, Ramen soups are originally native to China and later Korea and Japan.

Pho soup originated in northern Vietnam, but is now a national dish found on every street corner. It is a natural part of every Vietnamese breakfast.

Other similarities

Both soups have experienced a real hype in recent years. Nowadays, there are a large number of restaurants serving ramen soups or pho soups in every major city. Especially in Berlin, Vietnamese restaurants can be found in every neighborhood due to the large Vietnamese community.

Both soups also have very tasty vegetarian and vegan versions.
